| | | Simón Bolívar CONED OutlineOn July 24th 2006, the very first long-distance school of education (CONED) in all of Costa Rica to open up within the corporate realm was our very own CONED CVG ALUNASA “Simon Bolivar”. This educational alternative for adults is backed by an agreement with Costa Rica’s Long-distance University (UNED), one of the top 5 state universities in the country. It is now going on its 3rd year of offering integral education with a humanistic approach to the workers of CVG ALUNASA, and the community at large. Having started back in 2006 with a total of 135 students, currently CONED “Simón Bolívar" is a consolidated project made up of 3 graduated generations at different levels of studies, including GED’s and Junior High. This initiative was propelled due to the fact that the company CVG ALUNASA is the single-main work force in the Esparza County, and this condition, presented several challenges in terms of social solidarity. Framed by a political stance of social solidarity to facilitate better conditions in terms of education and training. “Economizing in schools is economizing in civilization and no peoples group on earth has the right to do it, generous spending on education is not a financial dilemma, rather a matter of honor and national décor”, as expressed by the Costa Rican Omar Dengo, criteria shared by the Venezuelan state-run company CVG ALUNASA, that therefore promotes, backs and strengthens the CONED “Simón Bolívar”. The subjects offered by CONED “Simón Bolívar” are the same as those offered by any other school, since we are a formalized school, with the sole difference being that 3 subjects are imparted per semester and an optional course is guaranteed by UNED. This is due to CONED being directed at adults that have been out of educational systems for a long period of time. | |
