luminum, coming from bauxite, is the 3rd most abundant element in earth’s crust, after oxygen and silicon. It is the main non-ferrous metal for industrial use, it is light weighted (a third of what steels weighs). It also has a level of thermal conductivity, which allows food to cook quickly. Furthermore, it is recyclable, so it is environmentally friendly. Due to these and other properties, aluminum use has increased exponentially around the globe. Over the last 60 years its annual production has exceeded 30 million tons.

Currently, aluminum can be found in beverage packages, food additives and preservatives, food packaging, pots and pans, aspirin with intestinal covering, cosmetics, deodorants, parts for the aeronautic industry, roofing, components for water treatment, abrasives, antacids, astringents, exterior home coverings, oven coatings, parts for the automotive industry, electrical components and electronics, and so forth.

ccording to the American School of Toxicology, starting back in the 80s it has been demonstrated that aluminum is present in our organisms mainly due to our diets of cereal, beans, fruit and vegetables. The equilibrium range with the human organism is of 125mg/day. Nonetheless, day by day, we are exposed to more and more sources of aluminum.

It is worth stating that studies carried out by the university of Wisconsin have proved that consuming aspirin or antacids exceed the range of equilibrium. As far as antacids go, they reach an aluminum concentration of more than 1000mg per day.
